The pavilion was built for an international sculpture exhibition in Sonsbeek Park. Eight architects submitted a design to the competition held for the occasion and two pavilions were built. The theme of the exhibition was skin, transparent and vulnerable. Most of the exhibited objects stood in the open air, with only the most fragile pieces being placed in the pavilions. This pavilion stood for three months near the old country house of Sonsbeek, looking out over the town of Arnhem.
Its construction sticks closely to the theme of the exhibition and is as transparent as possible. Glass panels constituting the roof are supported by steel lattice girders. The upright panels and the stabilizing fins are of clear toughened glass, butted together with transparent glazing sealant.
